Examine the duties of a fire warden before, during and after an emergency. The module covers routine observations, supporting fire safety arrangements, raising concerns and assisting with the implementation of workplace procedures.
Learn how to support a safe and orderly evacuation, including checking designated areas where safe to do so, directing occupants, assisting vulnerable persons and reporting to the assembly point coordinator.
Review the purpose of fire alarms, smoke detection, emergency lighting and escape signage. Participants will understand the importance of responding immediately to alarms and reporting faults or obstructions.
Understand the different classes of fire and the types of extinguisher commonly found in workplaces. The emphasis is on recognising when equipment may be used safely and when evacuation must remain the priority.
Apply the course content to realistic workplace situations. Learners will consider evacuation challenges, blocked exits, missing persons, visitors, contractors and other issues that may arise during a fire emergency.
